Well, I take that back... you cant get to it via the IP address as that redirects... to a crimson-stronghold.com site... oh, here we go:
http://genesis.nocdirect.com/~jcrimson/forums/
try that. And it is because the domain name wasnt renewed... is why the "site" is down.
Good oportunity to buy up a different domain name as the crimson-stronghold doesnt really apply anymore. Be... I'd pick a new name ifn I was you...
wonder how long that server will remain? lol, and I just did that ftp thing you helped me with recently, too...doh!

well... depends on if Be continues to pay for the site itself or whatnot... dunno if he prepaid or what his account setup is like.
Me, I pay for a year and leave it at that... domain names & websites...

Wow, can't believe that it's been a year since the rise and fall of Crimson. *sniff* memories...

Yeah... Jag has the ability to do domains... thats where I have my domain names run through & they auto renew. http://aletianic.com/ its run by Jag, or at least it was... either way, its cheap domain names & a decent interface for managing them.
Basically what you'll want to do is to get a new domain name, then notify Jag that its changed via a support ticket. Also you can ask them what else you will need to do... but the main thing is you'll need to put in the name servers when you register the domain name...
If you don't want to use aletianic.com... the other one Ive used was godaddy.com They were decent enough as well (similar price too).

Told jaguar to switch me over and they was like "ok"
guess I need to do that nameservers thing? where would I find that info? Also I saw some options for redirecting. Not sure exactly what to do though and the jaguar guy is typing at me in pakistanese

ok i know i need to let it sit a few days before it works but should i have not typed anything in the frame redirect thing at aletianic?
I put something so it works now before propagating but will that mess it up when it finally does?

Well, when logging in... all the site is set to point at crimson-stronghold.com so of course it wont work. I'll have to have a look at probably getting at the config for the forums via phpmyadmin tomorrow when Im at work & change the pointers... generally speaking its easier to do when both domains are active (if switching)...
As far as the redirect thing goes.. yeah, remove that.
Regarding the bits about the nameservers and where that shit goes, I'll have to wait to give you that info. I locked my account out trying to figure out what my password was before I found the "forgot your password?" link... LOL They say it'll be ok in 30 min.. but we'll see

ok it doesnt point to the genesis thing anymore but I guess you need to switch the pointers? Other than that its working. No rush on the forums, but zib your stuff should be in the same subdirectory as it was before just www.ryansethlong.com/whatever
my picture folder is accessible now thats all I'm really concerned about. Someone might want to let finn know whats up over at tirnaog or whatever it was though.
Damn i hate this satellite internet. Took me 2 hours to upload a .5meg file to email the other day. Download rate can be 200kbs but upload is horrendous. the damn thing kicks me off every 3 1/2 minutes so AIM or downloads are all but out of question. It even corrupts download manager files it discons so often... ugh.. We're swapping out systems soon because this one is so virus and porn-ridden that the government guy who owns it cant even log on anymore :)
eye- i'm wanting to put a new site up at the main www.ryansethlong.com page so could you make it so that doesnt redirect to /forums? Or tell me how to in baby speak.... I'm sure everyone can swap their bookmarks if they still want to go to the ole things. I oughta just delete em

To put up something at the root of the site, just replace the index.html file. It just a pointer that redirects to the forums atm...
fixed the re-direct on that page & fixed the forums... they should be working again.

No worries. As we didnt have a redirect from the old site name to the new one, probably the only folks that know the new name are myself, you, zib & cray... so Id reckon it might be a touch quiet... Finn too, if someone let him know... but then again, that was pretty much all of us left who still BS'd over there anyways.
