Check out the video on this (http://www.gearlive.com/index.php/news/article/total_immersions_augmented_reality_02040854/) site.

Totally amazing, I can only hope the games industry takes steps in this direction within my lifetime :)

I can't get the thing to play right, so I'm guessing its like this tread mill game I say once at a state fair maybe.. Anyways it had a HUD that covered your head like that Beachfront game that you'll see at any arcade. and then the avatar in the game would move you took a step on the treedmill.
So I guess before I ramble on some more, whats the games like? Some one do a little write up since the site uses just the video for that purpose.

Basically the video has this guy demo-ing an integration of real time video merged with real-time computer models. The amazing thing is the models seem to interact with real life physical objects. At one point he spawns cars and tanks, and they are driving round the table bumping into the objects on the table (he has 4 or so models like castle ruins). He has a wand also (just a little white stick) at the beginning of the video. The feed switches to the video stream and it looks like he's holding a rose. Didn't seem to matter how fast he moved his hand, the computer model of the rose moved with his hand in real time, and then it turns into a lightsaber!

It has to be seen to be believed really, but if this kind of technology could be used with a good goggle technology it could mean amazing things for computing in general, but I'm especially excited about gaming applications.

Gamespy have an article about other up and coming controller devices. Interesting stuff really.

At this rate, I really can see a proto-holodeck type technology within 20-30 years.

So you mean it isn't my crappy dial up status, the site just sucks
Oh and thank you James for putting it into nerd talk I understand, even though Star Trek is the bastard devil child of Star Wars.

The DL is like 80 MB man... its possible to DL it, but do you want to DL it? Cides, the download we can get you can DL on that site too... has a linky to it.

Looks like the viewable link is down... dunno what to say man.
