View Full Version : Idea to get Cray back in SWG
While sitting in traffic this AM behind some lady who refused to turn right on red even when it was perfectly legal and safe to do so, I figured out how to end Cray's woes on getting into SWG.
Anybody got a spare hard drive sitting around? We load SWG onto it, something that you weren't going to use anymore anyway, download the updates, and then mail it to him. Then, he could just plugin the drive and call it the SWG drive. Could even mail it back to us when it's time for a new patch...lol.
Another variation on this is to buy one of those external hard drives, load SWG, go to Barthus' and download the patches that way. Of course, it might be cheaper to just get a high speed connection. Hence the old hard drive idea that I had in the 1st place.
I'm actually half-serious on this. Other half is joking, but I think it'd work.

Well, could do what I used to do during beta which is burn the sucker to CDs. Of course, if Cray has a dvd drive, that would be better. I can get somewhere around 4gb on a dvd+r. I've considered doing this, but as cray has said himself, he'll be moving again sometime in the near future... in which case, by the time the disc got to him, he may be in a new location again... & may have broadband by that time.
Still, an idear... and cheaper than a HDD... cides, hard drives are delicate enough they might not survive the trip through the mail.
Yeah, thought about a DbD (as my kid called em). Prob cheaper than an HDD, but I don't gots a DbD burner.
Oh, I don't have an extry HDD, either...
Hmmm...maybe I should stop thinking how to smite my fellow drivers and think things thru more.

ROTFL... well, I actually have both... tho the drives I gots lying around probably arent worth much... dbd burner tho... that'd work only if he can read em.
Yanno, it reminds me... I almost ordered a +20 shirt of smiting off of thinkgeek the other day... but instead I ordered the "han shot first" shirt & the "international power symbol" shirt... along with a 2005 calendar, a USB led christmas tree for the office & a mini fridge (heats up too)...
That or you guys could shoot everyone that works at SoE. It wouldn't help my patch problems, but it would make me happy :p

What and goto prison for them dicks? I dont think so!
Your right, ok so shooting out. How about an electrical fire that burns there buildings to the ground? Would be a real shame too if there doors malfunctioned and they couldn't make it out of the building in time..... And on second thought better not to talk about this since this would be considered conspearacy :p

I say cray should just go with SWGs low budget second cousin.
www.swcombine.com
I have the powerpoint on why it is better than SWG also- very nicely put together and that from someone with the army's expert powerpointsmanship badge.
Be what is that site and how did you ever find it? Oh and since your the one that posted it, whats it about and hows it run? I tried navigating it, but the only real thing i can do about this time in the morning is keep my head from bouncing of the dispatch computer.

Its more of a roleplaying thing, I don't remember where I found it, somewhere deep in starwars geek territory. It just feels greasy inside. I can't even figure out how to move, and there isn't any combat anway- Only reason I even joined up was because it let me be a Bothan! Its all run through your web browser, pretty ghetto unless you're unto that stuff, only has 1500 members about 100 on at any one time from what i've seen.
Sounds like its doing as well as SWG

Hope SWG improves. I truly believe that the emergence of all these new games will help SWG in the end, if it doesn't utterly destroy it.
It was one of them Plato geeks that said something about how one's full potential isnt reached without adversity- I'd say WoW and EQ2 are adversity enough....

Well, lucasarts is ponying up more moolah to hire 20 new employees... artists, designers n programers... certainly that says something. I guess they are realizing that they have more work to do. Sad thing is with any game really, but esp an MMO... you make your first impression up front & its mostly downhill from there. Honestly, they'll have to make a lot of improvements through patches, but... they also will need to release an awesome expansion pack to get the press & thereby the gamers back. No matter what they do right now, their numbers wont improve I dont think until they get an expansion out that just WOWs the shit out of everybody.
Yes LucasArts needs hire more ppl, but they need to fire all of SoE too. Freaking they can try to hire more ppl to help with SoE's screw up, but as long as there still involved.... I don't think even god could mirical this game to work.

Cray, if you got a DvD drive or something, I can burn the patches to disk... I ended up getting my 2nd machine online yesterday and coppied over the patch files via the wlan... was going to take something like 14+ hours to download em versus 20 minutes pushin em from one machine to the next. Once they were coppied over, I ran a full scan & it was good to go... so, burning em to disk is certainly a possiblity. I just logged in yesterday for a few to get my life day gift & see if my damn money got depositited. =)
Yeah I got a DVD drive so I should be abe to copy them from one.

Alrighty. I'll look into burning a disc with the current patches on it. Lemme know where you want me to mail it to & I should be able to get it off in the mail this week maybe. At least then you'd be able to check on your chars n whatnot.
