Thanks...
Didn't have much time yesterday to write about it... kinda busy n all... found out in the morning that my old man had talked to the Ford dealer & he says that there is now only 1 mustang ahead of mine & its in the build process, so he's pretty confident I will be recieving an 05 instead of the probable 06 we were looking at. Then, in the afternoon, I got my call on the job... so ended up being a rollercoaster day =)
Currently I am a Microcomputer / Network Technician I, however in 2 weeks I start my new job as an Analyst Programmer II. The cool thing about the position is its a training position of sorts & its a flex position... so, in a year I "test" out & then get upgraded to an AP III & then 2 years after that I again "test" out & get upgraded to an AP IV.
I talked to my new boss yesterday & she said she's going to start me out with getting up to speed on SQL server & then doing some .NET & classic ASP. I have more experience with classic ASP than I do with .NET at this point, but one of the projects I'll be working on sounds like its using a fair bit of classic ASP. Later this year I'll be learning Cool-Gen or something, which is used to work on our mainframe screens.
Basically Im moving from the technician side of things to the development/programmer side of things. Never thought I'd become a programmer really... but hey, should be exciting stuff. I'll get to work on projects that are used by people all over the state of alaska. =)
Cool Eye...good stuff! :)

Givin up my pizza delivery job? Nahhh... not yet anyways. Gotta pay for my new mustang, when the damn thing shows up. Goin to keep my same schedule for a little while, but may end up cutting down a day or two depending on how much extra time I need in the evenings... But, at least for this year... not going to be making all THAT much more moolah... still, every bit counts.

I have an interview for a tech job (ITC Technician)! 27th May.
Any advice eye? Interview wise and preperation wise? I have IT based qualifications and I can fix damned near anything wrong with computers (maybe not to the point where you need a soldering iron tho...) It's at a school/college with a few hundred computers. Any specific things that would be good to brush up on? What's the most common thing you had to fix?
Ta for any advice, and wish me luck this job would be a really big break for me personally and financially.

In part, depends on the type of job it is... and by that I mean there are some that are more "help desk" focused & then others that are "network" focused. Here, I'll attach (until you DL & then I'll pull it) the last set of interview questions we used to hire my position. That might help to give you somewhat of an idea (granted, some things have changed).
Whats the school? Website? Did they post the job specs online? By this I mean something like my job. Its all publically available info:

And here's the specs for my new job (Im at the II level):

To be honest I'm not entirely sure what the job will exactly entail, the job description was rather gereric. But I think it's along the lines of installing/supporting software and hardware and sorting our general computer problems. Plus no doubt general dogsbody stuff :)
The school is now a college (probably not what you're idea of a college is) and has several hundreds of computers mostly used by kids so no doubt they go wrong a lot :) I think now it's a college people of all ages also attend at the new IT building.
